Episode 10: "Start sooner... it will get better." - Edwin Gregory III
In Episode 10 of the Deep Stage Podcast, we’re honored to sit down with Edwin Gregory III, the founder of Southern Hotrod and a transmission expert with over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry.
Eddie, based in Louisiana, first started his career at Mercedes-Benz before launching Southern Hotrod, a transmission shop known for its excellence and innovation. Just a year into his journey, Eddie’s business faced a massive setback when Hurricane Katrina struck. However, with unshakable resilience and the support of his family, Eddie kept moving forward, eventually focusing his expertise solely on high-performance transmissions.
This determination led to an exciting collaboration with Chris Baily on the Dodge Demon—a build that now holds the world record of 7.82 seconds in the quarter-mile. Eddie’s story is a testament to overcoming obstacles, from rebuilding after a natural disaster to setting new standards in performance.
Tune in to hear about Eddie’s commitment to his craft, the impact of family, and what it takes to build a legacy in the car world. Subscribe for more stories like Eddie’s, and stay tuned to see how the Deep Stage Podcast goes behind the scenes of record-breaking builds and automotive passion!
